HANDHELD ELECTROCARDIOGRAM (ECG)

A portable electrocardiogram (ECG) unit is now available through Cardiotech Services Inc.  Ideal for pre-purchase exams, evaluating exercise tolerance and monitoring and characterizing arrythmias. The LifeSigns Cardiomemo, a small, handheld battery operated ECG machine was initially developed for humans.  Measuring only 4 1/2 inches by 3 inches, the unit is easy to use, can be easily carried for use in the field, farm, or racetrack and gives results comparable to stationary ECG units.   

The perfect tool for mobile Veterinarians, the non-invasive machines is placed just behind the elbow for two minutes during which it collects all the necessary data.   Two leads built into the back of the unit pick up the heart beat which is then sent to a lab in New Jersey via a toll-free number.  Simply dial the number, tell the person who answers that you will be transmitting data and place the ECG machine up to the receiver end of the telephone to transmit.  Once transmission is completed, a printout is faxed back to you.
