EQUICINE CONTAINS CAPSAICIN

Equicine is a product new to the animal market that has Trainers and Horse Owners alike using it regularly on their animals.  Equicine is a topical lotion designed for use on soft tissue injury and painful, stiff joints.   This lotion was originally used in on Humans to treat painful arthritis and sore muscles in the athlete. 

Equicine contains Capsaicin, the ingredient that blocks the sensation of pain to the affected area.  The pain-relieving affect loosens stiff muscles and gives relief after a painful workout but does not block the pain enough to cause a re-injury.  Hocks, stifles, the back and shoulders all benefit from the use of Equicine. 

Equicine lotion is massaged into the affected area.  Because of the Aloe Vera base it will not tend to burn or irritate the skin.   One trainer said of his horse, "He seemed to walk as if the pain in his back was finally eased."

There is a new lotion containing CAPSAICIN  that has only been used for human patients to relieve muscle and joint pain.  The Physicians' Desk Reference describes Capsaicin as "rendering skin and joints insensitive to pain by depleting and preventing accumulation of substance P in peripheral sensory neurons.   Substance P is thought to be the principal chemomediator of pain impulses from the periphery to the central nervous system.  In addition, substance P has been shown to be released into joint tissues and activates inflammatory mediators involved in the pathogenesis of arthritis." 

Until now this product has been prescribed by Physicians and Athletic Trainers only.  This product is now readily available for the equine athlete or pleasure horse that suffers pain similar to the human arthritis patient.  Equicine pain reliever is especially useful for treating soft tissue injuries, stifle, hock, neck, back and shoulder pain.  This Aloe Vera based lotion WILL NOT BLISTER the horse.
