POTENTIAL USES OF AGP TESTING
AGP testing is a new diagnostic blood test to detect elevated levels of the Acute Phase Protein Alpha Acid Glycoprotein (AGP). AGP testing can be used as a prognostic indicator, to detect subclinical and infectious disease, changes in homeostasis and to monitor immune system function, chemotherapy treatment and vaccine efficacy.
Conditions such as Bacterial infections, Cancer, Cholera, Hepatitis, Inflammations, Influenza, Leukemia, Lymphoma, Meningitis, Neoplasia, Pancreatitis, Pneumonia, Asian Flu, Avian Flu, Swine Flu may be detected using AGP testing. Practioners of Oncology may use AGP testing.
AGP testing is also useful in diagnosing feedlot conditions such as Herd Stress and Shipping Fever as well as animal conditions such as Parasites, Mastitis, Bovine Respiratory Disease, Canine Distemper, Poultry Stress and Mad Cow Disease. It can be used to monitor stress caused by weaning and inadequate nutrition.
